Do yourself a favor and go buy the movie, "Once"

That is right I did not say rent, or even check out.. I said, BUY! This movie!

I just watched this movie that I rented via Netflix (and yes, as soon as I get some money I will buy it!)

But seriously, it is a date movie, musical, and tons of other words that would describe it as a chick flick, but I am telling you it is AMAZING! You would do wonders for your heart, mind, and soul to watch this movie.
Warning..it is shot like a documentary, and is rated R for the language (it is just like real life...crazy huh? heh heh)...but seriously if you have not seen it... you should not die without watching it!

yeah it is that good.... wow!

Ok and here is a quote from my friend Alan, who is quoting someone else that I just had to put up here!!!

Take it away Alan:

OK, please do yourself a favor and go read this. It's a fairly lengthy blog post by Fr. Al Kimel about our views of God's love, forgiveness, how we look at sin, etc. He's mostly interacting with thoughts expressed in a book by Dominican theologian Fr. Herbert McCabe. I've added a new book to my wish list now. Good stuff. It will be challenging for some to read, but it's good.

I snagged this particular quote from Fr. Alvin's post, just to wet the appetite...
"It is very odd that people should think that when we do good God will reward us and when we do evil he will punish us. I mean it is very odd that Christians should think this, that God deals out to us what we deserve. … I don't believe in God if that's what he is, and it is very odd that any Christian should, since there is so much in the gospels to tell us differently. You could say that the main theme of the preaching of Jesus is that God isn’t like that at all" (God, Christ and Us, p. 11)

========================

AMEN! I used this quote today, and it was for me... thank you God for not giving me something that I think I deserve! You are THE God I serve...not matter the circumstance! Amen!

Oh and BTW: Alan has just started his own graphic Design company..so if you need anything like that (web design, or business cards, or print material, or logos...he is your man)! Go give this guy some money so he can feed his family! Thanks! and God bless yall!

THE HOBBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

official press release:

ACADEMY AWARD WINNER PETER JACKSON AND NEW LINE CINEMA JOIN WITH MGM TO PRODUCE “THE HOBBIT,” EAGERLY-ANTICIPATED FANTASY ADVENTURE EPIC

NEW LINE AND MGM TO CO-PRODUCE AND SHARE WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS

PETER JACKSON AND FRAN WALSH TO EXECUTIVE PRODUCE TWO FILMS BASED ON “THE HOBBIT”

Los Angeles, CA (Tuesday, December 18, 2007) Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson; Harry Sloan, Chairman and CEO, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM); Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne, Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs of New Line Cinema have jointly announced today that they have entered into the following series of agreements:

* MGM and New Line will co-finance and co-distribute two films, “The Hobbit” and a sequel to “The Hobbit.” New Line will distribute in North America and MGM will distribute internationally.

* Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will serve as Executive Producers of two films based on “The Hobbit.” New Line will manage the production of the films, which will be shot simultaneously.

* Peter Jackson and New Line have settled all litigation relating to the “Lord of the Rings” (LOTR) Trilogy.

Said Peter Jackson, “I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to put our differences behind us, so that we may begin a new chapter with our old friends at New Line. ‘The Lord of the Rings’ is a legacy we proudly share with Bob and Michael, and together, we share that legacy with millions of loyal fans all over the world. We are delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth. I also want to thank Harry Sloan and our new friends at MGM for helping us find the common ground necessary to continue that journey.”

“Peter Jackson has proven himself as the filmmaker who can bring the extraordinary imagination of Tolkien to life and we full heartedly agree with the fans worldwide who know he should be making ‘The Hobbit,’” said Sloan, MGM’s Chairman and CEO. "Now that we are all in agreement on 'The Hobbit,' we can focus on assembling the production team that will capture this phenomenal tale on film."

Bob Shaye, New Line Co-Chairman and Co-CEO comments, “We are very pleased we have been able to resolve our differences, and that Peter and Fran will be actively and creatively involved with ‘The Hobbit’ movies. We know they will bring the same passion, care and talent to these films that they so ably accomplished with ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy.”

“Peter is a visionary filmmaker, and he broke new ground with ‘The Lord of the Rings,’” notes Michael Lynne, New Line Co-Chairman and Co-CEO. “We’re delighted he’s back for ‘The Hobbit’ films and that the Tolkien saga will continue with his imprint. We greatly appreciate the efforts of Harry Sloan, who has been instrumental in helping us reach our new accord.”

The two “Hobbit” films – “The Hobbit” and its sequel – are scheduled to be shot simultaneously, with pre-production beginning as soon as possible. Principal photography is tentatively set for a 2009 start, with the intention of “The Hobbit” release slated for 2010 and its sequel the following year, in 2011.

The Oscar®-winning, critically-acclaimed LOTR Trilogy grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide at the box-office. In 2003, “Return of the King” swept the Academy Awards®, winning all of the eleven categories in which it was nominated, including Best Picture – the first ever Best Picture win for a fantasy film. The Trilogy’s production was also unprecedented at the time.

This is VERY GREAT NEWS!!!! I hope you share in my excitement! Funny that I just mentioned the Hobbit in my last post and then this today!!!

The Golden Compass the movie reviewed...

Well I went the last week to go see The Golden Compass...and I have a 5 word review for it......you ready? wait for it....wait for it....wait for it.....

I'd rather see The Hobbit!!!!!

I mean come on... just give up on the Lord of the Rings wanna bees and just give the people what they desire THE HOBBIT!!!!!!
------------------------------------
Oh well, the movie was good the CG was very good, (still no as good as I Am Legend), but the best part of the movie was the story plot of the polar bears! That part was awesome...the end fight scene... was something that I expected to occur in the middle...it did not give the feeling of a HUGE battle (that The Lord of the Rings did VERY well) and the ending was just arrogant in my opinion..... it was like they made the movie and they just told the movie producers to cough up the money for the next two...and assumed they would do well in the theaters enough to prove that they could... this ending was just flat out not as good as it could have been and I was just disappointed!

OK, now on to the other thoughts of the movie being anti-Christian....

(side note... I have not read the books!!!)

Well, yes, I can see how the Magisterium could represent the roman catholic church (or church in general) and I can see how an ignorant individual could see and say the things that he was hinting at... for example, in the first century people believed that Christians were cannibals...why you may ask...well if you over heard someone say, "This bread is the body of Christ and this wine is the blood of Christ.... and then people are eating them and drinking them!!!! Yeah I can see how people would think that, but if someone knew they would know that those things were a modified passover, a meal with tons of meaning and remembrance...just like the bread and wine were remembrance items in a meal with tons of meaning!

OK, so when someone says, "you must die to yourself and raise with Christ"... I could VERY easily see that someone would think that we were crazy, and then we tell our youth to do the same, and yeah most people would say that there is some brainwashing going on.

And when someone gives into the false battle between science and faith, then normal and Christian people would say you had to pick a side, and since faith is not measurable, then it would be thrown out as ignorance....

And you take these understandings along with the true ignorance of the church in the past (i.e. the crusades, and countless other stupid things that human beings who have misrepresented their God) and you get one persons understanding of the church...and a horrible viewpoint of it!

So, here are a few thoughts:

1. don't expect a normal person (non-Christian) to act, speak, look, or even slightly resemble a Christian..and this goes for their books or movies as well. STOP being pissed at them and start loving them and developing a relationship with them.

2. If you don't want your child to go see this movie, then don't take them, but please do the rest of the church a favor and stop judging anyone who believes differently.....trust me that is God's responsibility, and I bet he can handle it.

3. Why not try to go to a movie that you disagree with with the intention and purpose of striking up a conversation with someone that you can love and care for and possibly realize that they may be blessing you more than you are blessing them.

4. Realize that Christ disagreed with several people, and he never stopped loving them! Even those that he ran out of the temple! (why can't the church or those who cal themselves Christians actually live it, and start loving others, each other, and why not start taking care of the environment, or at least your neighborhood or city!

5. What if someone would have sat down with the writer of these books and got to know him, find out why he had a grudge against the church, and do some heavy lifting of apologizing, listening, or at the very least caring for him!

OK one more rant real quick... sorry I am having to get a little bit off my chest here..... Thanks for listening/ reading... or not heh heh heh.....

Why can't church signs be real? Why do so many of them try to have a cute saying, or an offensive one towards those that are not like them? Why can't there be a church sign that says, "We are sorry that Christians have hurt you, please let us make it up to you over a cup of coffee?"

Man, I long to read that sign!

------------------------------

Ok Thank yall, and please feel free to join a discussion below...all thoughts are accepted as long and the language is appropriate. thanks and God bless yall! Oh and be looking for further movie reviews via the podcast or here. Thanks!

so Harry Potter is actually good!

Well, I finally got to go watch it last night (this morning) and Harry Potter met all of my expectations...and they were high! So good news! Go see the mvie, it is worth your money and the story is just getting better and better in the movies. I know they leftout a lot to fit it into a movie, but I thought it was good, but then again I have not read the books and the main reason I went was for my wife. (i figure if I force her to go to mid-night showings of lord of THe Rings, then I must go for Harry. There were only a few people that dressed up like the characters, not enough for me to go back tot he car and get my camera, but still fun none the less.

So go watch it, the acting is great, direction great, cinematography great, and of course the story is wonderful. tiffany loved it of course and it is amazing to see how many high school and college adged people were there. I think think it was a generation that starting reading them when the first book came out and that is how old they are now. Anyway...now I have to go see Transformers. Man I loved them
as a child and I am even wearing a tee-shirt of Soundwave right now (thanks to Tiffany), heh... anyway yall have a great day, God bless yall and KUTPs!!!

Harry Potter...is it good, I would not know...

yeah available now...but not available to view yet!

So four of us jump into our car and travel up to the northern side of Cinci. to go watch a preview showing of Harry Potter! The ticket says: 12:10am 07/10/07....now to me that looks like the show is going to be LAST NIGHT!!!! Well, nope the theater is filled with either VERY worng computers or wrong employees! I went yesterday morning to go buy the tickets to the show (that I thought was last night) and the girl told me after I clarified several times that the movie was tonight (last night) and she said with another employee beside her that, "Yes it is tonight..it even says here on the ticket," she says! So I drove twice in one day all the way up to northern Cinci for very little excitement...so guess what...yep, we get to go back tonight to get to see the movie that Tiffany is dieing to watch! Ouch! Oh well, So, pray for us to be able to make it back up there without killing a theater employee!

seriously... watch the movie Children of Men.....

Children of Men!!!

it is rated R, with lots of cussing and a very small amount of non-sexual nudity...but please do not let that stop you...wow what an amazing movie.... (follow the link about for a trailer on the official site)

Symbolism is king in this movie (not to mention AWESOME sound) ..and it is much more artsy fartsy than I am sure that most of you could appreciate..but I must say there are AMAZING scenes in this movie..and deep theology/psychology/philosophy and I loved it!!! Even with all of Tiffany's questions during the movie...and that is saying a lot... seriously Markus if you watch this movie then you must email me and let me know your thoughts. Man I wish I would have waited for the HD-DVD of this movie to come in Netflix...but Tiffany was sick today and we went to Blockbuster, heh...

Well, love yall and I have more pictures of the awesome weather we have been having around here up soon they are already at my Flickr photos, but I will try to remember to put a few on the blog as well, well take care and God bless yall! KUTPs!!!!

MLK Jr. and Jay's B-Day, Birthday's in Heaven?....And Christmas Videos...

Well, Today is my brother Jay's Birthday. For those of you who don't know he passed away a few years ago, and in honor of my brother I am going to go eat Indian food today with Tiffany, heh... We really should not be eating out and be good about our money and just eat at home..but I am sure we will do it anyway, heh... But it got me thinking.... are we going to celebrate birthday's in Heaven? I know someone asked Jesus if there was marriage in heaven...and the answer was "no" (fine by me I guess. I love my wife, but I love my God more...and she loves me even more because of that fact, heh).... but what about Birthdays? They do seem a little selfish...being alabout us.....but it in reality should be able our praise for God allowing us to have this life....well, I guess I will just find out when I get there, heh.... what do yall think? Oh and Happy birthday Jay....if yall celebrate it there, heh heh.....

It also sure is a good excuse to go get some good food, heh....

--------------------------

Well, here are the ton of videos from our Christmas that I promised.... They are all on YouTube so you can find them there too....but in no particular order here they are.....(and yes i realize that this is mainly for my family...but they are probably my most active readers so I get to sho them some love too!.....

Here is the Cutter Cam @ Rudy's in Austin TX. Rudy's is a very good BBQ place all over TX and a few in NM, and this is how serious TX is about it's BBQ....they have a live camera showing them cut the BBQ while you wait in line...love it!

Stop Spitting
Here Is Caleb my nephew telling his grandfather (who is pestering him) to stop spitting! Then tiffany tries to pester him by saying the (not allowed words, "shut up") It is funny because he knows "shut up" is not supposed to be said, but instead of telling Tiffany to not say those words...he tells Tiffany that pop (his Granddad) should not say that word, heh.

We Don't Say That Word...Because That Is Naughty
Finally Tiffany got him to tell her not to say that word...and we heard this all the time when we were down there...Tiffany loved it...so so se would purposefully say the "naughty" words to hear him say it, heh.

My Nephew the future rocker...he has great stage presence!

So here is my mother-in-law opening up the gift Tiffany and I (mostly Tiffany) gave her...and then Caleb my nephew gets a little confused as to how he should play with it...it just made me miss my dog Halo. ha ha ha.....

So here is my Father-In-Law opening up a present from my wife. It is a huge home-made bobble head of Tiffany. It was @ her church's bazaar and Tiffany bought it so that no one could get it....so she gave it to her father....and man...every time he looks at it...man those eyes crack me up...I would be doing the same thing....

Now here is my side of the family, and here is my nephew and his Dad attacking me and then fighting each other...kind of scary. But very cute.

And lastly I had to put up one Wii video and this time was my Nephew boxing..and doing a very fine job at it, heh...

==================

Well, yall have a wonderful MLK Jr. Day...and watch a historic video or two to remember a wonderful man!

Apple iPhone, {apple}TV, and CES, and Christmas pictures....

Well, I must say ever since I got a MacBook Pro laptop...I have been amazed and blown away with the Apple brand. Apple was actually one of my first computers...well it was my brother's computer...but I got to play games on it too, heh.... but then Microsoft came into play and it became THE machine for games and if any of yall know me you know I like video games......so it was an easy choice...to go with Microsoft and the PC.... but ever since I have gotten a taste of Mac OS X and seen some of the simplest, yet amazing things they do with their products (like the two finger scroll on the mouse pad on the power Macs...very easy and cool) I am blown away...and also since my design classes in Undergrad I have had a flavor for good design and there is no one in the consumer market that can beat apple with the class and design of their products. Well, the rumor sites have been hinting at it al along and with Kevin Rose on Diggnaton leaking a few f the specs it seems that the big day @ the Mac World Expo has come and the iPhone is a reality.... And why am I freaking out (along with the rest of the geek nation)????

(click the image for all the info and stuff)

Well that is why! It is a phone (only through Cingular Wireless as of right now) 4G and 8G iPod with widescreen, TOUCHSCREEN, video capabilities (i.e. download TV shows, music videos, and movies from iTunes and watch them on it), Wi-Fi internet browser, can hold your contacts, calendar, a 2Meg digital camera, widgets, clock, calculator, email, runs Mac OS X, bluetooth 2.0,has 2 batteries one for the iPod part and another for the phone so that you will not kill the other one if using the other.....(you get the point....it is an end-all-be-all in your pocket device! I am actually surprised that they did not make a deal with Starbucks and it could make your mocha in the morning and your frap in the evening...(but during Steve's Keynote speech he did order 4,000 cups from Starbucks to go fro the iPhone by using Google Maps on the web browser, heh)
So how much for this little fella??????

4 Gig = $499
5 Gig = $599

Yep, for the price of this device that fits in your pocket....you could buy a PS3, or a small HDTV, or a decent computer, etc.... So I am sure that Cingular will give their usual more or less $100 discount when you sign up for a 12 year agreement with them for the phone...and not sure about anything when it comes to warranty, heh.... but pending the FCC allowing it to come to market... Apple has single handedly revolutionized the cell phone and MP3 player market forever! Amazing just amazing....

Steve also just mentioned the
(click the image again for info)
{apple}TV

for your home that costs $299 that will hook up wirelessly to your computer and iTunes and will allow you to watch your downloaded movies, TV shows, Music, etc...from iTunes on your widescreen TV in your living room! This product and others like it may very well kill both the next gen HD-DVD and Blu-ray-DVD High Definition DVDs out of the water! While they are fighting in another format war just like VHS and Beta Max....the download able services found on the Xbox 360 live Market Place and Apple's iTunes may lay them both to rest and the thought of walking around with a hard copy of a movie with be a thing of the past...because it will just reside in your phone...that someday you will just put next to your TV that will play the High Definition movie wirelessly! And seriously I do not think that kind of dreaming is not too far off.

Anyway.... this is the week that a part of me was in the consumer electronics business. The Mac World Expo is going on and so Apple is telling the world what is new in their corner of the world...and the the CES show (Consumer Electronics show is also going on too! CES...is the place that all the consumer electronics manufactures gather to gather to show off their latest technology, from gadgets, to cell phones, to TVs, to surround sound, etc... And man I know that I would just loose bowel control if I had the opportunity to attend one of these events... but until that happens some day and I make friends with Steve Jobs or good old Bill gates...I will just have to get my news from the people I can almost trust (news websites, the companies themselves, bloggers, etc...)

Well, needless to say I am very excited about all the electronic stuff going on especially the HDTVs that are being shown there... (especially since mine is being worked on and I am without my TV for 7-10 days.....aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh, just kidding it is not too bad...especially since I have borrowed the church's projector (thanks Gary)...but it is still not in HD...and with someone who just bought for Christmas the HD-DVD drive for the Xbox 360

(clickable again)
it is all mine...my precious....my love.....(oh wait that would be Jesus and my wife...wel, it sure is fun to enjoy and play around with, heh heh heh....)

...it does kind of suck a little bit, heh....
But, some very cool technologies are out there and coming to TVs....like Sony's new OLED technology that claims to have 100,000:1 contrast ratio...(it means very good ability to show the difference between the darks and lights in a picture which gives it much better clarity and definition no matter how much light is in the room that the viewer is in) this is something that plasma and LCD have been having a hard time with as far as a technology is concerned...but then Mitsubishi has a new technology that uses lasers to give the picture on their TV...and that has the potential of producing "perfect" colors instead of having to use red, blue, and green to produce the other colors, they will use CMYK and Red, Blue, Green...this will allow the yellows, Magentas, etc...to be really vibrant...and I am sure that technology will be amazing...even though I have not heard anything as of yet about it at this years CES, but the show still has a few days to go yet.... And all the news is towards the High Definition Format war...with LG even producing a player that plays both formats...so that it will not matter what movie studio goes with which technology that the consumer will be able to play them both, heh heh... and others (Warner) have gone the route that will allow the movie distributors to put both a HD-DVD movie on one side of the DVD and a Blu-ray HD movie on the other side! Very cool that someone out there cares about the consumers instead of being greedy and having a format war.... these selfish battles killed Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio....but then again downloaded movies might just kill them both off anyway...oh well.............

Well, let me see..... ah yes, Christmas and New Years....Tiffany and I had a great trip to TX (i.e. the promise land) and got back safe and sound with lovely gifts and the best gift of all getting to see family! So, I guess until I can get a few of the videos into youtube I will just have to put up a few pictures for yall to enjoy...so here you go.....

Here is one of my favorite gifts I got from Kevin...who i always have a "gag" gift for...it was just my way a long time ago of welcoming him into the family...and this year my plans were shot...so he got to have all the glory...and yes, that is a jewel encrusted toilet bowl plunger...and why you may ask did he do this...well, for a few of you long time blog reader you might remember this little gem of a post/story that involves Tiffany, poop, a plunger, and a phone call.

halo popping a balloon from my birthday....

i took this video of halo popping a balloon from my birthday (sorry Alicia)...and man it cracked me up....he had so much for for the VERY short time that he had it....and before i took it away from him, heh.... but anyway here it is...and you can tell he loved it....

oh and the shift key is not working right now on my computer and that is the reason the only time you see capital letter is when i turn on the caps lock and then off again...and it is killing me so i will just go one for now...

-------------------
speaking of halo...we had his teeth cleaned and while he was under they took off his dewclaws i guess that is what they are called....well everything went fine until we got home and he ripped out the bandages...and then this morning i looked down and his right foot was swollen to 4 times its normal size and noticed that they put the bandage on his foot too tight...and then when we called the vet they said to just take off the bandage and continue to keep giving him his antibiotics and pain medicine...and guess what they never gave us pain medicine....so poor halo went without pin meds and a swollen foot all night last night...and that was after we went back to the vet three times to get a collar that would still fit him and be long enough for him to not reach back and rip out his own stitches...anyway he is doing much better now...even though he has that plastic collar around his neck that he hates...but the bandages are off, the swelling is gone, and he seems to be a much better puppy dog now...but he has to wear that collar for 7-14 days and then we take him back t get the stitches out...and still not sure how that is going to go with us leaving next Monday to go home for Christmas...anyway... he is much better and i must now go to bed for church tomorrow..... kutps....God bless yall...

here is a picture of halo looking at me through the book case before the bandages came off almost asking me to please let him rip them off....please daddy please.....

----------------

oh and on our way out the door to go to the Friday night OG Tiffany's new purse broke and so she had to give what was supposed to be a surprise Christmas gift early...i got her with my parents a seatbelt bag purse...and very cool...and yes momma and daddy he loved it...sorry that she broke her other one and i had to give it to her early....and then i turned on my tv and it looks like the blue cannon that makes the picture look so amazing ly clear and hd...is really messed up and i have no idea how it got to be that way.....aaarrrggggg....and there is no way that we have enough money to replace the t.v. so between my dog and t.v. and wife's purse all breaking in one evening life is still going well, and we had a great time tonight going to the nursing home with the Friday night og and then everyone came over and had Texas chili and played the wii...well the guys played the wii while the women went out to shop, heh.... and then we now have 3 wonderful people staying at our house from their ski trip...and i am very tired.....so it is off to bed and work tomorrow.....so yall have a great week and i hope to post something before Christmas...oh and did i mention that my laptop latch is broke so it will not open properly...it works ok but is not where it should be...so i will have to take that in to get fixed and they have to ship it out and then ship my laptop to my parents house for me to be able to use while i am there....oh well merry Christmas everyone and God bless ya....kutps

some Wii videos....

so the last Monday night OG I took over my Wii to Matt's house and my Wii went over well....so well that I wanted to show yall some videos of the games played....

as you can tell Alicia's form in boxing is amazing...

-----------------------------------------------

Christian's form and athletic abilities are out of this world.....
-----------------------------------------------

here Alicia was told by me that I wanted to see some trash talking, but in the end she took it out on me, heh heh heh.....
----------------------------------------------------

here Matt and Christian have a Wii tennis volley challenge...tons of fun.....

yall have a wonderful night take care and God bless ya KUTPs....

I saw the trailer for The Simpson's movie yesterday and man it was funny! Here is a link to the movie trailer:

thesimpsons.com

And there is another movie coming out soon that has an official teaser trailer out and for you Harry Potter fans this might make you a little more happy:

Order of the Phoenix

OK so a friend of mine Sean was a little down and out yesterday and so we kind of hung out together yesterday and while we were in Kroger we got a short movie of a very funny Christmas lawn decoration.

And right before Santa...we hit the EB Games store for Sean to return some games and we got to play the Nintendo Wii....now yes I know that it is a stupid name...but seriously, this was soooo much fun! Truly amazing...and watch how Sean controls the car in the racing game....you literally move the controller not a button on it...but you move the controller...Nintendo really has something here...I had so much fun playing it....anyway here is the video of that fun time too:

The one about team Hoyt...

I worshiped this morning and I did it through a video.

I have a great father here on earth...and man I love you Daddy, but our Father in heaven is calling out for a reminder that together is the way he desires to move, work, and play!

There is no Serinity or Firefly future??...at least for now......

Here is the quote from Joss himself from his site:

"...... Here are some ABSOLUTELY TRUE statements of factiness. Gentlemen, start your websites.......4) I will absolutely, posatively never ever do any kind of Serenity sequel or spinoff unless a studio asks me. Politely. Or meanly, that's cool too................Here's a thing: when "Firefly" was cancelled, my heart got broke. Sounds a bit much, but it changed me. Not even "Serenity" could patch that wound. I'm wearier, warier -- after all those years as a movie writer, you'd think I'd be prepared for another lesson on my unimportance in the scheme of things, but I wasn't. There are two very separate worlds: the marketplace, and the bustling bazaar that is my brain. The brain place is crowded with goods, ideas, sequels, spinoffs, animated versions, miniseries, radio dramas -- this is just the used goods. All the new wares are in there as well and it's deafening. Once I create a verse I never let go of it. And figuring out how much of my energy should be devoted to reawakening the projects you all love with the actors and characters I all love, and how much should be forging ahead and creating entirely new works (which you are contractually obligated to love) is exhausting. More than you know. You know the horse caught bwtween two pools of water? Add seven pools, and make the horse wicked A.D.D. The other world, the marketplace, I don't even begin to understand or predict. All these rumor of projects or the death of projects... When the two worlds align and something actually happens, whatever it is, you guys know I'll be on this site as soon as I'm allowed to be. And I'll be very very clear. There is no news. Not never, just now...........

Your Scribe, -j. There are two movie/TV projects I would ever REALLY want to come and see the light...and that is The Hobbit....and of course the Firefly T.V. series or a sequel to Serenity. Both of these shows are awesome! And I would love to see them all...but to be honest...I would prefer another TV series over another movie. You just get more story, and you don't have to spend the big bucks and dummy down the movie just so those who have never seen the TV shows can understand what is going on...any way...the great thing about this quote is that he said he would never do a sequel/spin-off to Serenity (unless a studio asks him)...I am fine with that...but come on....the Sci-Fi channel could resurrect the T.V. Series in a heart beat...and I think it would do VERY well there, but here to hope...... I would just love to go and purchase a browncoat to support the next TV series....and I would love to go watch The Hobbit (over 2-3 movies, ha ha) But alas....I will wait and hope....and who knows maybe God will give Joss the green light in heaven and we can all enjoy the show some day......(that is if Joss will be there, ha ha....OK new hope...Lord please grow or create a relationship with all those who were a part of the Firefly series...Thanks...and you ROCK! .....yall have a great night!!!!!

there is a hope for The Hobbit on the BIG screen!!!

quote from The Digital Bits:

" By the way, speaking of Lord of the Rings, the film industry trade Variety recently reported that MGM (which owns the theatrical release rights) and New Line (which owns the production rights) are tentatively planning to team up on a big-screen version of The Hobbit and they're hoping Peter Jackson will direct. VERY interesting and fantastic news if true. However, our sources tell us that the studios had better hurry up and ASK Jackson to do it, because the director's production schedule is getting pretty full. If they're going to do The Hobbit, it would also be great if they'd do it soon enough so that Ian Holm, Ian McKellen and Christopher Lee can participate somehow."

Oh man oh man....This would be a dream come true!!! Especially if they did a trilogy (at the very least 2 films) just to do The Hobbit right!

The one about sweating, Nacho Libre, and Superman returns!

Well, this is what Tiffany and I feel like!!! We came back from an awesome Youth Camp...to fly into KY, drive to our car...drive to our house...ready to fall into bed and get a few hours (4) of sleep to wake up and go to church the next morning...and we get to the house...only to open up the front door and walk into a 93 degree house!!! Our air conditionaer died...aaarrrrgggg!

Well, if you know anything about me...I hate to sweat! Sure when I am working out that is fine...but sitting drinking a gall of water and sweating is not my cup of tea!

Well, the air conditioner people came to look at the problem..and they told us that it was not repairable! So...that means we wait for the church people to find a good air conditioner company and then we wait around for them to get some time to put a new one in! This is very frustrating! All the while we sleep in a VERY hot home!.....not to mention that we are worried about or pets.

I am sure the church people are going as fast as they can to get us an air conditioner...but I also know that sometimes to "get the best deal" time is required and they told us that it could be 2-3 days for them to install it much less find one to buy to put in!

Well my parents have come into town for around a month...so if we need to we can stay with them in the motor home...but that will get very tiring very quick...not because we will be with my parents...but living in such a small living space...when you know that your home is 15 mins away!!!!

My father reminded me that we do have a window unit, and we just installed it in the home theater room...so I guess we can set up a air mattress on the floor in the HT room and then take our showers in the bed room...it is crazy...but it is the best we can do with what we have.

oh well, we can survive through this and we will...and as soon as the air in our house is fixed then I will start to work out again...and get back to my mile mark and eventually run a 5K race....(i.e. my hamstring is back to normal....well, a little less strong..but that will come back with running and lifting)

Well, that is all for now....I really must tell you all to go see

Nacho Libre!!! The movie is clean and very funny! And by far the best baptism scene I have ever seen...this movie will be a buy when it comes to DVD..and I might actually go watch it again in the theater..and that is rare for me!

Oh and this Wednesday...I will be going to Springdale Cinemas to go watch the new

Superman Returns movie in IMAX 3-D....I can't wait!!!... And I will introduce my parents to Jungle Jims! I know they will love it...and the only problem is that we will not be able to buy anything cold because we will be going to the movie afterwards! oh well, there is always another day!

Yall have a wonderful and blessed week and I will try to get some more pictures up and going! oh and I will try to remember to show yall my google album page as well!

Until them..God bless and take care! KUTPs!!!

The one about Valentines Day, Hitch the movie, Strong Bad cooks, Jay update, and a new picture.....

Well, Valentines Day was a good day for us! We went to work and we both got a lot of work done and then Tiffany and I (after really loving on (Halo) to make sure he knew he was loved) drove to Albuquerque.

Tiffany and my first Valentine's Day with each other (in college) consisted of me buying Chick-fil-A nuggets for both of us and then having fancy glasses (filled with strawberry flavored water) and candles on the floor of my dorm room, and then we rented her favorite movie Say Anything. So.......

Chick-fil-A has become a tradition in our marriage every Valentine's Day, so I decided (along with Tiffany) to take a table cloth and candle sticks and go to Chick-fil-A in Albq. (the only one that is close to us) and eat @ the restaurant. So you can imagine that we walk in odered our nuggets and then go to your table clear it off, lay out a table cloth, and put up candle sticks (it was the ones that Christy and Kevin got us for Christmas)...we did not have time to buy candles or a lighter, so we put red hot sauce packets in the candle stick holders, and we enjoyed a very romantic Chick-fil-A dinner!!!!!! We then packed up all of our stuff and went to go watch Hitch!

--------------------

Well, Hitch is an awesome movie! First off it stars Kevin James and Will Smith. I love Will Smith in almost anything, and Kevin James famous for his King of Queens sitcom on CBS is so stinking funny. I almost hyperventilated! This movie was clean (maybe a few cuss words, but no nudity, and had lots of themes including, love, premature judgment, dancing, dating, dating, and dating, and man, is Will Smith good at what he does in the movie, heh. He is the ultimate smooth operator, heh. I have no doubt that everyone who goes to this movie will laugh...unless they are drugged or can not laugh due to some other reason. My advise....Go see it...then you might want to go see it again, and you can bet that we will buy the DVD when it comes out!

-----------------------

Strong Bad is a chief in the latest Strong Bad email...so for all you cooking people out there like me you might enjoy this one, heh (or not, heh) Don't forget about the Easter eggs at the end of the email. I love the one about "poopaw".

Sheila's email for the latest Jay update:

Feb 14th, '05 Evening:

Happy Valentine's Day.

Jay had another LP today with the methotrexate injection. He has an eye doctor appointment tomorrow in the morning.
Today is platelets took a nose dive and he needed an infusion. This is not good news because his platelets had stabilized for 2 weeks. He will most likely start systemic chemo Thursday but we are still watching it day. There is a possibility that he may have to go for an infusion tomorrow. Wednesday and Friday he has 2 more LPs but Thursday we should know when he will start the next cycle.

He did eat at Denny's tonight. It was great. No one was there. This is very good news since today was Valentine's Day. I would hate to think that guys think of Denny's as the happening' romantic hot spot. The methotrexate monster came out for a minute when the waiter put ice in his coke float. We got the situation addressed and all is well. Lucky for us we were looking for fast and not romantic. :-) All he could talk about was getting cheese fries, Sunday I had to make an emergency stop at Krispy Kreme. If I didn't know better I would think he was pregnant with such distinct and varied cravings.

I'm going to work in the afternoon tomorrow but can't be go long my mom has to be somewhere in the evening.

Well, that's all for now. We're just keeping our eyes on the platelets.

Sheila

One one that JAY came Home!!!!

Yep, Jay is hopefully sleeping in his own bed tonight!!!!!! It will not be long lived, because he goes right back to the hospital tomorrow to receive his spinal tap for the start of his experimental chemo, but he agreed when I told him that I am sure one night @ home is much better than 26 days in a hospital! heh. He is doing much better and I will post Sheila's emails below!

Two things I just thought yall might like to know about the first is:

The liberator. These are basically 7-14" power extension cords. Yes, yes, I know, "what in the world is D.G. telling me about these"....well, it is not everyday that you come across something that is cheap and practical and these are both.(the link above gets you five in one pkg.) It basically allows you to plug in power chords into every slot of a power strip instead of those transformers taking up two to three slots and not allowing you to use them. here is a picture of what I am talking about:

The second thing I was very cool that I saw today while surfing the web was this:

Ring of Sauron

Very cool indeed if you ask me, but then again this is not practical or cheap, just very cool, heh. You can even set it to glow the embers and show the Elvish with a motion sensor!!! Heh OK, yes I am a Geek, but a proud geek! :)

Sheila's Emails:

Jan 19th:

Jay really wants out. He is begging and trying to negotiate with the Doctors to let him out. This is a very good thing.

They are going to do another full body CT Scan tomorrow and do another intrathecal (in the spine) chemo treatment tomorrow. He is begging them to let him out no later than Friday.

Yesterday, surgeons came into lance the area on his arm where one of the PICC lines he had was. It was highly inflamed and they will be coming back today to check on it.
His white count (3,500) is up and his platelet count stabilized at 64,000 (no more transfusions). They are still giving him potassium daily because it remains low. We are going to try and find out the next steps today. Today is day 25 and he said he is going stir crazy. I keep reminding him that he has a week more to catch up with me because he was out for a week. He just grumbles at me. This too is a good sign :-).

Take care everyone,

Sheila
--------------

Jan 20th:

He might get to go home today. We will have to administer IV antibiotics at home but we've done this before. We also have home healthcare.

Before he can leave today he will have to have a spinal tap where they will put chemo in the spine, he needs a blood transfusion, and potassium and magnesium. It will be much later today if they do release him.

Wait, we just received word from his nurse that the spinal tap can't be today because the chemo drug did not arrive at the pharmacy downstairs. The chemo they are using is highly specialized and the pharmacy does not have any on hand because Jay is one of the only people using it. It's long acting chemo that stays in the spinal fluid for 2 weeks.

He may not get to leave until tomorrow now but we will see.

I have started packing up his room. It resembles end of semester moving from college rather than a hospital stay. He definitely gets any comfort from home he can think of to make him feel better.

Right now we have 2 computers, a Swedish foam mattress pad, 4 back massagers, 4 foam pillows, a Swedish foam pillow, a vaporizer since it is so dry in here, about every episode of Star Trek on DVD, D and D figurines, magazines, books, his pocket PC, camera, clothes, about 6 weeks of Ensure supplement drink that they have been sending with every meal and he refuses to drink it, his own soft blanket from home and about 10,000 other things. I believe in making sure he's comfortable and so do his parents and aunt so he has everything he might want that will fit in this room.

I'm glad he might be getting to go home because my airbed sprung a leak the night before last and I wake up literally on the floor. I get up several times to refuel but I'll be getting a new one before our next visit for chemo. :-)

Well, I will keep you up to date as to where he will be and how he is doing.

Take care,

Sheila

Great stuff, and of course I told you above that now Jay is home so our thoughts and prayers are working, now it is just time to gear up for the experimental chemo! Thank you all for your love and care! and as always, Please KUTPs!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend and Friday!
