Well, go on a Mission Trip for 10 days and all hell breaks loose. Please pray for me, Th3 Waters, Tiffany's hip, and just life in general. It is nothing that can not be fixed or dealt with, but it is just overwhelming and frustrating.

Umm, you said, "hell." I'm telling!
The quote reminds me of the first section in Rob Bell's book 'Velvet Elvis' when he talks about our understanding of God and the Word of God being similar to a trampoline that flexes and is not firm. That is not to say that the Word of God or that God changes; just our understanding. I read reviews of Bell's book that had a real problem with how he described it, that he was being too liberal. But if you look at history, you see how this is true. Christians used to think slavery was OK, but their understanding of it was stretched and challenged to see that it isn't. I do appreciate in your quote that he says that we reject some stuff and accept others. That says that we are not pluralists, accepting of anything and everything, but that we are thoughtful and open to what the Spirit has to say to us today.

I think the quote is just excellent. Faith has to grow with challenges and churches and church groups also have to grow with challenges. People and people who work with them and love them always find challenges--some reach the goal, some just plod along, and some just give up--sounds like the parable of the where the seed falls. May all these challenges find you finding God even closer. I know you and your walk with God and you will see much change for the better--even if it seems not so all the time. God love you for me. You are still a blessing and are needed by many people and by God. Love, mom
