Guess who is alive?

Well, this is my last half of a day here in Pittsburgh staying in the hospital room. It is very sad, but I am ready to see Tiffany, Halo (our Beagle) and Sushi (our cat) and now I also get to see my parents too!

This will also mean that as soon as I get home I can put up the picture of Jay and me! I hope you will like it and it is a good picture!

Jay told me just this morning that he wished I could stay another week. I told him I wish I could, but I also need to go back and take care of the church and the staff. (we all know they take care of me too, ha ha)

Jay did say that I have seem him at the worst point (when I first got here) and at his best yesterday and today. This is a very true statement! He has been so much better yesterday and today!!! It is really amazing. I don't know if it is the chemo or the steroids or both, but you and I both know that it is all the prayer and God healing him with the Dr.'s, Nurses, family, and friends! I can not even express to you how great the Dr.'s are and the nurses are. One Dr. came in yesterday and talked with Jay about his next computer purchase for 45 mins. (with his pupil resident standing behind him the whole time and then he just told Jay that everything is working out good for his Chemo and that was about all he said about the treatment, ha ha. Leave it to Jay to help people with their computers while they are curing his cancer, heh. (their are about three Dr.'s that are talking to him about computers every time they come in, ha ha)

Well, they are about to add Leucovorin in his IV. This drug stops the Methotrexate (the huge amount chemo) that he has been taking for the past 24 hours. Jay asks that We all need to pray that the chemo is killed this first time and then all the next 6 different times he goes in will be preventative measures that just make sure it is all taken care of. So, as always your prayers really mean so much to Jay! Please call him on the number I left in the yesterday blog post. He loves all the phone calls from everyone! And please don't be offended if he has to go or can't talk because he will probably be talking to a Dr. if he can't talk. I can not tell you how much he loves the phone calls. Even if you don't know him and only know me just give him a call if you can and make he day.....but really the best thing you can do is pray for him! I suggest that you just tape up his name on the bathroom mirror and pray for him while you take your shower or something like that. Thank you all sooo much!

The update for today is that he is doing VERY good!!!!! I can see a remarkable improvement in control of his face. It is still partially paralyzed, but it looks like it will be coming back eventually. Great great news if you ask me. The Bales Palsey is the most noticeable part of all this even more than the bald head, heh. So that is a good booster for your spirits, and on the outside Jay to be full of Spirit, but deep down inside just like everyone else he is nervous and needs a goof lifter, and this is a very visible and outward sign of God's working in your (his) life.

(warning!!! Theology moment immediate, ha ha):

Yesterday his pastor came and He brought healing balm, and then he asked me if I wanted to administer the balm/oil to Jay. This is awkward for me, because I really don't do that too often, because I don't want people to misunderstand what it is, but Jay knows and I made sure that he and the pastor knew how I understood the balm. I believe that using the oil/balm is an outward sign that God is doing an inward work of healing. Now it must be understood what different forms of healing there is: Spiritual healing, Emotional Healing, Physical healing. and these forms of healing can happen is multiple ways, miracle healing that God does heal you immediately, healing of time by your body doing it for you because of the wonderful natural way of healing that is in all of us, Medical healing (God gave the knowledge to the Dr.'s and such to help your body heal), and then of course the ultimate form of healing is death. The last one is not something that is good to tell people while there is still a change of healing the other ways, but when counseling family after death it is a wonderful way of emotional healing for the family, and I believe it is the total truth. As Christians death should never be something scary, but sweet release to go be with Jesus! Read Philippians 1.18b-26. Paul is not asking for a death wish in the sense of someone loosing self-esteem/depressed. This very letter shows Paul is full of life and excited in Christ, and if VERY ready to get back to the work of sharing the Gospel when he gets out of prison. But, Paul is also in love with the Messiah/Jesus! And the central thing about He as a Christian means that he gets to go be with Jesus in death, so just like Jesus, death for Christians means life!!!(really really really awesome life, heh) But, Paul does not want the Church of Philipi (sp?) if he does die in Jail for them to think everything is going bad, for in true reality they should celebrate with Him, and continue to live the life in Christ!

OK, well, it looks like the Leucovorin is causing Jay to be very tired after being full of energy this morning, but all the Nurses and Dr.'s say that it is fine and could be part of the drug, but just tell him to take a nap. (I think he is trying to stay awake to talk to me until I leave, but I will leave very soon to go to the airport. I leave today @ 3:15 and I have to be there even earlier due to the higher security stuff. So I am going to sign off for now and the next time I write will be at my house in Santa Fe. Love you all and thank you soooo much for your continuing prayers! God bless you all!

It was amazing, but so many people are praying for Jay. I went to drop off Halo at the Shipmans' house (the senior pastor at St. Johns') and Walt had a candle lit for Jay that they keep lit all day for him. That just touched me. Then at camp on the last day, 300 mid high students all prayed for Jay as pastors laid hands on me to stand in 'proxy' for Jay. So Jay, you are being prayed up!!!!!
