Well, I have been told from my parents and even my wife!!! That I have not blogged in a long time ..and yes I know that I have not...there are several reasons/excuses...but I will leave them all alone...and just let yall know what I have been doing around my life.
I went last week to a shop in the Florence Mall that sells used games and used gaming systems called Game Swap! And it was there that I found my long lost favorite game ever made.... Y's Book I & II for the Turbografx 16 CD game system (actually the CD part was an add-on to the original gaming system) I know that my parents will remember it...because this was the first time in a game that I wanted to show off the graphics! heh....it was the first role playing game for any system released on a CD! Oh man...I wanted this system so bad...that I know my parents got tired of me asking for it...and the only place you could buy it was Toys R Us. And that was in Lubbock...and I will never forget the day when my brother came home with the system and the Y's game!!!! It was amazing!! (I think I was sick or something and could not go...so I gave my brother my money to buy it and he went with my Dad to go buy it!
You have to understand there were 4 gifts/purchases that really ring true in my memory banks. the first one was my waterbed...I saved and saved and saved $10 here and there for my house chores...and all the lawns I mowed to save for my waterbed...and then the day came that I got to walk into BigSir Water beds and buy my bed...only to find out that it would take them a week to come to my house and in my room build the bed and fill it up (I think this is right my Dad can help me out here...I was very small and not totally positive how it exactly went down..I do know that he helped out another $30-$50 to add drawers to the bottom of the bed...but Ok back on task...the waterbed, The TurboGrafx 16 CD add-on and especially Y's book I & II (I even dreamed about this game, heh), then the other ones were probably Christmas gifts....the Zeppelin Airmail Stamp (the one on the bottom of this picture)(that I (i.e. Santa got it from) bought from the Red Raider Stamp shop that still is in existence in the South Plains Mall...and here on Ebay), My backpack for Boy Scouts, the Lego castle, my 1st real leather Jr. High football, my black Eagle Talon car (duh of course), my first surround sound receiver(RCA) and speakers (Bose)...you know stuff like that...and there is a story for each and everyone of them......but anyway back to finding Y's Book I & II the game.......
After I bought the game for a very reasonable price of $25....(it goes on Ebay for much more) I knew that all I could do with it would be to put it into my CD player and play all the audio in the cut scenes and all the music for the game was in separate tracks on the CD disk....and you can ask Tiffany I was jamming out them all....I loved them and remembered every single one of them, heh..... well, then I remembered a friend (Brad) telling me that they make an emulator in the internet that allows for playing Turbografx 16 games...and one emulator in particular allowed for anyone to put the original game CD into your CD/DVD drive on your computer ad you could play the game EXACTLY LIKE I REMEMBERED IT!!!!!! Oh man...after getting permission from Tiffany to buy the very cheap emulator (MagicEngine) I was playing my memories right before me....so.....now the truth comes out of why I have not been posting on my blog.....it is all Y's fault and the memories of my childhood that have been getting the best of me, heh.....Well, good for all of you to know I am almost done with the game...and I will get back to normal life soon....heh......sometimes you just need to go back and swim in the best parts of your childhood...it is REALLY FUN! An d I think healing in a small way, heh....(very small...and be forewarned...it may take up some time....because it is fun...of course, heh....
OK......
Well, Tiffany and I are always looking for ways to cut down on our money spending...and I just have decided to take the plunge into online purchasing of music.... this way you can buy a MP3 for $.99 per song and buy the song you like off of a CD instead of buying a CD for $10-$15 and only listen to one song....so I spent one night writhing up my favorite song list to put on 2-3 CDs and I could rock out anytime I desired to all of my favorite songs, heh....(John Sylvia inspired me on this one)....so you you care to see the list so far? OK here is a sample of me (again another walk down memory lane of course...and please know I do not expect anyone to know them all...and I will give anyone who actually knows all of them a gift via the mail....(parents are excluded...and you have to prove it to me that you actually know them all by calling me on the phone and singing a sample of all of them over the phone without the assistance of the internet...OK here are the songs...no particular order:

The one about the "Big news".....(Tribe Extension)
Well, oh how I wish I could say that this big news is:
Tiffany is pregnant (sorry, but this is not the case no matter how much I would sell several of my own digits to make it happen, heh)
We won the lottery (nope, once again our student loans and credit cards would love for this one to occur...but again no)
The big news is that I have started a new blog....now this new blog is not a personal blog...and no it is not Tiffany saying that she is going to start being better about posting more often in her blog (and still never posts anything, heh heh) but this blog is going to be all about the tribe extension that I have been brought to KY by God to gather with the help of God, my wife, our pets, and the people of Florence UMC.
Right now there is no finale name for the ministry (although we are coming closer and closer to what we feel God is leading us to call it) but for now we are calling it a tribe extension.
Why Tribe Extension? (some of you may ask) or What in the world is a Tribe Extension? (a few more may ask) or even What the? Honey....I think D.G. has gone insane! (as a few of you very special people out there who actually know me might say, heh)
Well, let me explain.
"Extension" is self explanatory...whatever "tribe" means it is an extension of an existing tribe. and I can say that most people could and probably will use the term "tribe" synonymously with the term "church"...but I have more reasons to use the term tribe.
1. All too often the term church has lots of baggage with it when people hear the term...and to people who are not Christians I have a feeling that the term is not all that positive in their minds. The same would go for the terms "evangelical"(no offense, but this is the first picture that Google brings up), "conservative"(notice the image name), and even "Christian (I have had a run-in with these people sadly...and man they give Christian a misunderstood understanding)" for that matter...and tribe forces people to think of what "church" is (and I believe should be) in a different and new way.
2. Tribe carries a better understanding of a group of people more so that the term "church"...which to the average non-Christian...and even average Christian can come to mean a building where a group of people who worship together meet. Tribe emphasizes the people and the community not a building, place or location.
3. The "Church" has always meant to have the meaning of "the people of God" and the community that is formed when Christ is the center of their community.
4. Tribe is just cool! heh heh....
So, what I am doing is providing a atmosphere where a gathering can form to make a tribe for Christ! This tribe will be known as a tribe, community, gathering of people who seek relationship with God and each other and can walk into a journey of unknown, growth, and kinship. This will be a place that discussion is emphasized, creativity is encouraged, and Christ is glorified by honesty and real lives truly seeking for relationship and community.
Peter put it this way:
NLT 1 Peter 2:9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God's holy nation, his very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. 10 "Once you were not a people; now you are the people of God. Once you received none of God's mercy; now you have received his mercy."
This allows us to all be different and not walk in the same line that is "expected" but that we are all still part of the same tribe and all walking at least in the same direction.
so there you go......a new blog that I hope to keep updated to show the progress of the new Tribe Extension that we are serving God to gather for your information, but more importantly for your prayers and support! So, there is not too much there right now..but please bookmark it and check it out every now and then...

Ok...well, I must go to sleep now and never forget...Please KUTPs!!!!!!!
Oh and yeah why a Crash? a group of Rhinos from the last post? Well, Erwin McManus puts it this way:
"Rhinos moving together at full speed (30 mph) are known as a crash (because they can not see past thirt-one feet..but they run at full speed all the time because of the big horn in front). Even when they are just hanging around enjoying the watershed, they're called a crash because of thier potential. You've got to love that.....That is what happens when we become barbarians (a Tribe) and shake free of domestication and civility. The church becomes a crash. We become an unstoppable force. We don't have to pretend we know the future. Who cares that we can see only thirty feet ahead? Whatever's at thirty-one feet needs to care that we're coming and better get out of the way......there is a future to be created, a humanity to be liberated. We need to stop wasting our time and stop being afraid of what we cannot see and do not know. We need to move forward full force because of what and who we do know." (Erwin McManus, The Barbarian Way, 2005, page 138) (the Bold I added.)

The one about Tiffany's $80 for 8 gallons of gas bill.....
Ok here is a picture of a bill that we paid just two days ago for Tiffany's car....the day before Tiffany said that she was pulling out of the garage and as soon as it got out of the garage the car died on her. @ First she thought it was the battery...but the radio was still on, and a few other things suggested that it was not the battery...and I mean as soon as you turned the key it would die...so you could not even see any warning lights that would come on...so we called USAA one of the greatest companies on this planet...and asked them to tow it to a garage (totally free mind you) that Tiffany's church members said was the best and most reasonable in town.....we followed the tow truck to the garage and dropped off the car only to wait for a phone call to find out what was wrong.....(mind you we had just spent $400 on a few other fixes just 3 weeks before)....so I get a phone call from the garage...and here is the conversation:
Garage Owner: Mr. Hollums?
Me: Yes, this is D.G.
Garage Owner: Well, I have run all the test I can on your car. I mean I really had a hard time finding out what could be the problem...and finally I found out the root of the problem...pause...
Me: Yeah, so what was wrong with it?
Garage Owner: Well, after al the detective work...the only thing we found that was missing in the car was....(long pause).... gas.
Me: (Dumbfounded silence).......(a little more of the same)...Your @#$%*!% me!?
Garage Owner: Nope that is what is wrong with the car...it was out of gas (laughter filling the phone in the background of the garage)(I think they were all standing around listening to the call...I might have even been on speaker phone, heh heh) (please understand this garage is one of the best places on the earth, I would have put me on the speaker phone too, hew)
Me: Sorry, I normally don't cuss I am a pastor..But man...I can't believe that...you mean that my wife's car wouldn't start because she did not fill it up with gas?
Garage Owner: Yep, that is the case...so I tell you what...I will put $8 of gas in there for you and with the $68 inspection fee your total comes to $76 and your car is ready for you to pick it up.
Me: Ok, thank you!
So, I proceeded to call my wonderful, beautiful, lovely, genius wife to tell her that she needs to be careful about where she gets her gas from because the last place she went cost her $76 for 8 gallons...and I knew the gas prices were bad...but it took real talent to find it that high of a price, heh..... I never gave her too hard of a time...and when I told her she thought in all seriousness real hard assuming that she did fill up with gas..."That couldn't right!!!"...and then she remembered..... that one fateful night (exactly two nights ago) that she told me she was going to go get gas..and never did....heh heh...
So, we laughed it off and got the car...and all is well, but I just had to share with you the fun story of the Hollums House....and to let you all know that one of the best garages in Cold Spring is Moore's Garage for your "Complete Auto and Truck Repair" 781-6060 State Rt. 546 in Cold Spring, KY!
Yall have a great weekend..and I circled the bill for you to see the actual costs.... And she even gave her Sr. Pastor the right to use the story in a sermon..so I am assuming the same is true for any and ALL of you too...let us always not only KUTPs....but lets keep our eyes on the gas tank level too. Love yall and God bless yall!

The one about me going to my first live pro-football game.....
Before the big news I talked about yesterday in the post...I wanted to share with yall a night in my life I won't soon forget...my fist live pro-football game! I went with my friends John and Mike...while John's wife Sylvia and Tiffany spend the entire night together talking and doing other girl stuff, heh.... well here is "the guys" meeting up @ Joseph-Beth Booksellers before the game so we could all go in one car!.....
here is the ticket for the game!
Here is the extremely short line when we got there....we got there early, heh....
Here was my first view of "The Jungle" otherwise known as Paul Brown Stadium....we were sitting in Section 201 row 22 seats 6,7, & 8! Man these were great seats....and those chairs were so comfortable! padded back and bottom! It was the first time I did not feel uncomfortable sitting in stadium seating for a live game...it was almost as padded as the nice theaters we all go to now...well not the Hollums Home Theater...but still padded none the less, heh.....
Here is John standing next to the big screen on our right and there was another one on the left of us! It had a good picture...but still not HD (heh heh heh)...I thought was a cool picture, heh!.....
Here is a picture of the Patriots practicing....and if you look @ the very top right of the picture in the top stands....(the section that the right pole of the field goal post is touching) is the section we sat @.....
The Bengals take the field! With "Who Dey" leading them on the field with a huge flag......
just another pic of the field..I think this might be the coin toss.... not sure....
Touchdown Bengals! You can tell it was late in the game when most of the 2nd & 3rd string were in the game(because not everyone is on their feet cheering)....but still lots of fun...and everyone around wanted to give high fives, and yell at each other...heh it was great!......There was only one drunk guy that got kicked out that was sitting in front of us a few rows down...so all in all is was a great time! heh heh.
Hey look they finally came close to our side of the field...and my camera is horrible when it comes to any kind of zoom, heh.....
Here are the guys after the game was over...I felt like I had taken a few showers in my own sweat...but man it was wonderful...and even through the Bengals lost(23 to 13 The Bengals actually made a touchdown...but the officials did not call it)...it was still a fun game and a fun time had by all.....
And then we all went back and ate some wings and fries @ BW3's here is a picture I wanted everyone to smile @ but it ended up with Tiffany throwing a quarter @ John...I want everyone to take a good hard look @ Tiffany in this picture...see that face? Yep that is the look she has when she is up to no good...she can't hide her sadistic glee...John knows the look and that is why his hand is attempting to block the soon to be thrown coin...and Sylvia (John's wife is laughing in the back ground...not sure what Mike is thinking..but it was great to have him go! Well, I am still finishing up the final touches on "the big news" so please be patient and never forget to KUTPs!!!!!! God bless yall!
Oh and I have got to put up one more post before the new news....so let me see if I can scan something in and post it real quick and then yall can look forward to the new news.

The one about a game (revised with the answer to the game).... With meaning later.....And The ONE Campaign....
Anyone know the term for what is pictured here? Start the guessing..and if anyone has read Erwin McManus...your disqualified! heh....let the guessing game begin....(in the comment posting field that is, heh...
OH...and a friend of mine suggested that I put something up here about The ONE campaign...so here is the link..and I truly believe that it is possible to see the end of hunger and poverty in the world in my lifetime....but then again....we are talking about humanity (such frustrating potential)....go to the website and check it out...it is amazing how many groups and organizations they have brought together to fight, hunger, poverty, and AIDS....God bless yall this day...and never forget....KUTPs!!!!
OK, OK, OK....I have a feeling that this will totally give the answer away...but here is your hint to guess the answer I am looking for to the question, "What is the term for what is pictured above?"
OK, I am scared to give you a hint.....but OK here is a poor excuse for a hint attempt.....
goldfish are a glint
elks are a gang
crows are a murder
ferrets are a business
ravens are an unkindness
wild cats are a destruction
and
Jays are a party....
OK OK OK...my MOM found the answer, heh....that is sad...that my Mom who MIGHT know what Google is found the answer...oh well, maybe some of you did not have time, heh...j/k....actually I wanted the answer to be told so I could set yall up for a big announcement....(that I will put in another post, heh)
But yes...for all of you who do not know it...a group of Rhinos is called a Crash! and now just be waiting for the next post where I will explain what in the world I am talking about, heh. yall take care and God bless ya!

The one about the Fro Hollums Family, and my new HT's little place on the web..and Tiffany and her video games again! heh.....
Wanted to show yall a few pictures that have been laying around inside Picasa that I never remembered to show yall, heh...here is Tiffany last Thursday playing a really cool video game in Gameworks....this game you sit down lock a door (yes, you are in an enclosed plastic window case when you play) and as you play the game the seat and entire game spins around while you shoot the airplanes down, heh I thought the game was really fun...and you can see Tiffany did too...but if you look really close the screen in front of her says, "Mission Failure" heh....We all had fun watching her scream and smile while she played...I would have gotten some actions shots...but the case she played in had too dark of windows...heh...oh well....
As Tiffany an d I finished up the last box of moving into our house we found some cool stuff...and one thing we found was our fro wig! Man, I love this thing...and everyone can not help but put it on...heh...so here is the Hollums family wearing the wig.....Tiffany....
Sushi......
Halo.....
And me singing with Halo...I bet the wig holds all of my strength! (see Judges 16) heh....
I saw this church's road sign today...and I just had to take a picture of it....heh I guess this church not only saves souls...but money for speeding tickets too! ha ha ha......
and just when I thought it was a great way for a Pastor to get back at the police force for giving them a ticket a few blocks away from their church...the other side...suggests either...they were doing this...and did not want to make the police too mad...(heh...my preferred theory) or that they were just saving the police force from having another cop car on that street and the sign would do the job for them...what ever it is..it other side caught my attention and I did slow down, heh.....
Lastly.....I wanted to show yall my favorite view in my house, heh..... I just created and updated The Hollums Home Theater's little home on the web...and made it is new favorite link of there on the right...so if you care to see what my home theater looks like...then please follow the favorite link over there ---->...... and the only thing missing from the Home Theater is a few Movie posters around the room...and as soon as I get some frames then it will be complete! heh..... The one about my business card....Guess-the-Google game...and the new moon photo that is probably a Death Star...very close to us!!!!
Here is my business card(front=top, back=bottom)....I really like it...and boy does it do what it is meant to do....get people asking questions...heh heh...sure is fun...If you would like to have a business card done by a professional..or a logo...etc...here is the link to the guy who did this amazing piece of art! He is traveling to Japan soon to do mission work there...but I am sure he could still (if you wanted to) work with you via the net) He is just great!
So let me tell you a little bit about why I have what I have on there...because I am sure you might be asking the same questions....
OK....where to start:
Well, lets start with my title: Cultural Architect
I have "borrowed" this title from Erwin McManus (the guys book I talked about in the last post) He calls himself this title..I love it! You see he understands that Christianity is not a religion...but it is a movement. He sees and I agree with him (or I would not have requested it to be my title) that the church is in place to be a movement for all of humanity...it is meant to be a place where the very culture of community is Christ centered...and so I see all of us..and myself included to be cultural architects...builders of culture where Christ is centered and the very lifestyle we live is worship. I can not express enough to you to read Erwin's books they really do inspire and open the doors to thinking outside of the box....(although I never knew a box existed...heh heh heh..
OK, I also wanted the contact name and numbers to all look like an http:// address....I figured that we live in such a computer world that it would show off who I am a little more while also reaching a different group of people that are net lovers....probably the very people who read this blog...(BTW: I stole this idea also from someone's email sig, heh)
The drawing of me is the master art work of Greg! This style of art is becoming more and more growing...What Greg did is take a picture of me (That Tiffany took) and then started putting layer and layer of art on top of it and made me into a almost Anime cartoon character... I love animation and especially Anime...so once again it shows more of who I am to the card reader! I love how Greg made the Japanese-esque rising sun beneath me! heh heh heh....and using a pop-up for my info is great! (But I must tell you I stole this idea from Print Magazine...Showing off the top business card designs...And believe me there were some VERY cool ones in there! (I have blogged a previous blog showing off a few of them..If you want to go searching through them all, heh.....
And lastly the words on the back of the card:
We live in a Post-Modern world..and with out getting into what this means...basically, the post-moderns...(myself is included in these) desire a few things over others, community, experience of anything/life, and enjoy the mystery of anything/life.... so the back of my card to to touch on these aspects of Post-Modernity...Mystery (to intrigue others to wonder, "who is this guy?" or "what does he do or work for?", Incarnation (most people probably do not know what this word means anyway...but to promote that God came down (actually the direction is probably not too important, heh...just not up, ha ha ha) into this earth in the form of a flesh covered human being in Christ...and He does the same through His church...which I am a part of and what we will promote in the tribe extension (satellite church plant)(that I am a part of), and lastly the Relationship...this is two-fold in meaning...1: God offers relationship with you, one that is greater than any family relationship, or spouse...but one with God!, and 2: That we offer this relationship to anyone who wishes to be a part of a community/tribe that cares, supports, and grows one another in Christ. So we and God offers to anyone (including those I had this card to):
A Mysterious Incarnational Relationship with him and us! I love that....and this small piece of double sided printed paper hopefully will allow people to join the discussion of what this can mean to them if they desire to do so...and if they do...they have my contact information to start a discussion...and in both our lives a relationship.
OK so there is my business card...I think it does what I want it to do, heh....
Oh and may all have noticed that I changed my blog title to Cultural Architect instead of pastor to keep with the same understanding and consistancy if someone reads the card and goes to this blog....

Geek friends I need help:
another change I am trying to make is to make this blog RSS for those of you who may care to read it in this form....(if you do not know what this is...then you probably would not care...it really is for those of us who are information junkies, heh.....but for those of you who know this stuff...I added a link on the bottom right side over there ---> with the XML link...but I really wanted it to be RSS 2.1(either 2.1 or 2.0 can't remember)...and I think for some reason it is set up only for newsgroups and not for RSS readers I am using a program called Feedburner....if anyone knows anything about this please let me know...Greg, Thor, Chris, etc.... Thanks!
basically I want it to look like digg's RSS page...here is their normal page Digg (this is the place I get a lot of my news from, heh)...and here is the RSS page Digg RSS......I have a widget that reads RSS 2.1...but when I try to make my bog like this it says that the RSS version can not be found? Thanks for your help....and if you do not want to work with comments...just email me.
=====================
something else I saw that is VERY cool to me...is check out the picture of Saturn's moon Mimas!!!
and NOW check out a picture of the Death Star in Starwars:
Can you believe that!!!!!! "That's no moon!" And what we should really be worried about is how close it is to us...maybe Star Wars and Hitchhikers Guide are more right than we thought, heh....heh heh....this is just a joke...and who knows maybe God does love Star Wars after all! heh....If you want to read more about the new picture of the moon then you can read about it here.
And of course you could just read the post before this one and see the Lego version of the Death Star...but that one was the one they were rebuilding...and not the finished "fully operational" Death Star in A New Hope
=========================
I found a neat game to play for those of you who might like it...it is called Guess-The-Google....When you go to the website...You can play it and you guess the term that was type into the Google image search by looking at 20 different pictures...you get only a few guesses and a time limit to guess the word...heh....I liked it...but you can only imagine how bad I did...because I can not spell or type...and this is a needed thing for the game...but I know I got may more right by voice than I did in typing, heh....
=========================
And for those of you who are looking for a great DVD to rent...the may I suggest
Lemony Snicket's A Serious of Unfortunate Events
This had the most amazing soundtrack, opening and closing credits of any movie that I have seen in a loooong time...and the plot for a children's story book (I have not read the books, but this movie might make me want to pick up a few) that seems really horrible...but the moral in the end is that even though life is not perfect you can still find sanctuary in family (i.e. relationships)..which I believe is a huge key to what Christ offers us...not a perfect life filled with happiness and fun...(these are part of it too....don't get me wrong) but that Christ offers us companionship and relationship in the midst of the times when we are walking through life's sewers! Go watch the movie...and I am seriously thinking about buying it!
==================
OK...I know I said that yesterday was the last blog post of this week...but I just had to get these out to you...and have been wanting for a long time to get yall my business card,heh....Well, yall take care and know that we love yall! KUTPs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The one with Chris and Halo eating breakfast, the rest of a PC conversion to Mac screen....
Well, here is a picture of Chris the last time he and friends visited us....We made amazing French Toast Alton Brown recipe...and here is Chris and Halo licking Chris' plate....at first we would try to stop Halo from doing this...but we just gave up after so many attempts...heh
=======================
OK for those of you who loved Konfabulator (which allows you to have widgets on your desktop just like macs) I have found the perfect companion for it that allows you to have the Mac OS X program launcher @ the bottom of the screen with it blowing up the program icons and scrolling through them just like OS X!!!! I think this is really cool...and if you use the preferences right you can make it look just like OS X.....it is a ton of fun...and it is still in Beta so if you have any problems just report them to the program author....(I have been running it for a week now and it is doing just fine)...so here is the link to your PC -->Mac OS X screen conversion:
Y'z Dock
(I love this stuff...because it allows me to have al the cool looks of OS X and the raw power of a PC, heh heh) (yeah I know you Mac lovers out there might start that debate...but it is OK...I like the dark side, heh)
======================
Well, I was looking around today and I know exactly what I would want for this Christmas if I were 10 years old again:
Death Star II
I loved Legos and man oh man...did I love Star Wars too! (And I have a feeling that I might love them both still to this day, heh) the only thing holding me back? the $299 price tag, heh.....
(who would have ever thought that little bump filled pieces of plastic would hold such a price, heh....)
======================
Well, yall have a wonderful rest of the week.....
OH I wanted to share with yall the book I just finished!!!!! It is truly amazing...and a must read...I am seriously thinking that I would want everyone who joins any church to read this book...and become excited about what the church could be! The book is:
